7.1 / 10
Full operating system (installed)Agents that do multi-step work when asked.
Evidence: Persistent context and memory components plus a Pulse dashboard are documented; scheduled or proactive runs are not documented on the pages read, so level 3, not 4.
A mature, widely used open-source life operating system with dozens of skills, hooks, typed memory and a dashboard, free under MIT. It is built by and for technical people: setup assumes a terminal, and scheduled autonomous work is not clearly documented. The best free starting point for builders who want to own their whole stack.
Security: Issues found. Scanned on 2026-10-05 with ClamAV, YARA, gitleaks and OSV: a malware rule matched (AIOS_Stealer_SSH_Keys_Exfil) and the secret scanner flagged 3 possible credential patterns (values masked, not published). This can be a false positive in security or example code; we have not reviewed it by hand. Our pattern rules flagged 17 items for review, such as a download piped into a shell, running remotely fetched code, exec.reverse-shell, reading browser profile files.
